Why my torrent downloads with BitComet take such a long time to start downloading?

1. Because it has to search the torrent to find seeds and peers. If the tracker is down, or the torrent is poisoned it takes longer to find them. If there aren't many seeds the downloads will always be slower.
2. - port forwarding. you have to open port for bitcoment to download at full speed. - bitcoment is non-standard torrent program (i.e. it cheats like sending wrong dl/up ratio) and is banned on many torrent website. - depends on number of seeds( people having full copy) and lechers (people downloading) and spawn speed (people allowing the speed to upload/share that file).
